After my third child was born during the final lockdown of 2021, I left my job of three years to seek a better work-life balance for my young family. Driven by a passion for finance, I became a stay-at-home mam/student and spent 18 months immersing myself in courses and exams.
In June 2023, despite fighting with my self-confidence after having a baby, I launched a small business from my home office. My goal was to generate additional income each month by working as a subcontractor bookkeeper for small accountancy firms, all while pursuing my studies as a trainee accountant myself.
I believe behind every small business is a family just trying to get through life like the rest of us. Through my experience, I’ve noticed that these indivduals often feel overshadowed by large accountancy firms, lacking the attention and understanding they deserve due to their size and unfamiliarity with financial jargon!
I founded The Bookkeeping Lady to bridge that gap and give each one of my clients a cheerleader in their corner. I offer them access to the information they need about their businesses, should they wish to maintain or grow, answering those “silly questions” (there are actually none!). Most importantly, I keep them informed about their obligations, including VAT and PAYE Liabilities, empowering them to make informed business decisions with confidence.
And so… The Bookkeeping Lady was born!
